About The Orlando Cabaret Festival
Mad Cow Theatre announces the return of an exciting signature event for Downtown Orlando – The Seventh Annual Orlando Cabaret Festival. The Festival will feature cabaret artists and acts from Central Florida and beyond in a series of over 40 musical evening and lunchtime performances May 1- May 17, 2009. This year's lineup is a Cabaret-lover’s dream come true: The Queen of Cabaret herself, Andrea Marcovicci joins the Festival for five sure-to-be-sold-out shows! And that’s not all – 2-time Tony nominee Christine Andreas brings her blend of lyricism and sweet sensuality to Mad Cow’s intimate Stage Left Theatre. And that’s not all – The Broadway Boys are back in town after their triumphant debut last season, bringing their own special touch and astonishing harmonies to classics and new classics alike.
This year too we feature another group of headliners in the intimate Club Moo, singing songs by some of the greats: We are delighted to be presenting the wonderful Jaimie Roberts for her 5th year at the Cabaret Festival, as she celebrates the art of Kander and Ebb. Laura Hodos has a marvelous party planned with Noel Coward and Cole Porter; and Andrea Canny shows us the art of three very different Stephens – Sondheim, Schwarz and Flaherty. We're also continuing our extremely popular It Was A Very Good Year series, as we celebrate the Great American Songbooks of 1944, 1954 and 1964 in three separate shows.
Mad Cow Theatre will once again turn their intimate theatre space into two lively cabaret nightspots including Club Moo, where all table-seating transforms the space into a unique downtown nightspot. There's a different lineup every night, so each evening of the Festival you can take in as many as three different and spectacular acts -a Cabaret-lover's dream! One of the features of the Festival will be a series of weekday lunchtime performances designed especially for downtown workers. The performances will last 45 minutes, allowing workers to bring their lunch (box lunches will also be available at the theatre), see the show, and make it back to their offices within an hour.
See you at the Festival!
